Keonjhar, Apr 17: Fatal tuberculosis has reportedly spread its tentacles in the unreachable Kahneigola village of Palaspal gram panchayat under Harichandanpur block in Keonjhar district.

As many as 11 people are now undergoing treatment for the disease, caused by the consumption of contaminated water. While over 25 people have contracted the disease, six people have succumbed to it in the last five years.

According to the informaiton, Juang tribals live in the village. Even after 76 years of Independence, the village lacks drinking water. As a result, villages consume contaminated water sourced from different sources. The BJD government, which has been ruling the State for the last 24 hours, has not reached the village.

Villagers have been suffering a lot due to the lack of basic needs such as drinking water, motorable water and electricity.

People depend on Chua water to meet their needs for cooking and drinking throughout the year. Despite repeated demands by villagers, the block administration is yet to reach the habitation.

"Due to the consumption of Chua water, we are suffering from different diseases. Six people have already died of tuberculosis," said villagers.

They demanded that the district administration rise to their life safety and provide drinking water, roads and electricity soon.
