Bhubaneswar, Dec 19: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Jual Oram, and Shivraj Singh Chouhan and BJP MPs condemned the alleged push to Balasore MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi.

"Due to the irresponsible and objectionable behaviour of Rahul Gandhi in Parliament, our senior party leader and Lok Sabha MP from Balasore Pratap Sarangi got injured. Such actions of Rahul Gandhi are not only unacceptable but it is also an insult to the sacred house of democracy," CM Majhi wrote in his X handle, formerly known as Twitter.

He also prayed for the speedy recovery of Sarangi.

"I strongly condemn such acts in Parliament. This type of violence has no place in a democracy," The CM noted further.

Union Minister Pradhan wrote on X, "“Will Rahul Gandhi ever grow up? The Parliament is not his fiefdom. His arrogance, sense of entitlement and feudal behaviour today has caused grievous injuries to elected MPs and has put life in danger. Strongly disapprove his behaviour and tantrums. No amount of condemnation is enough for his juvenile act. The least he owes is an apology.”

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Shivraj Singh Chouhand and Jual Oram condemned the act. They said Congress has once again disrespected the parliamentary democracy.

Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab said the alleged attack on MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi is not at all acceptable in a parliamentary system.

Union Ministers Pradhan and Chouhan met Sarangin in the RMN Hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

It may be pertinent to note that Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked to injured MP Pratap Sarangi and inquired about his health.
