Bhubaneswar, July 25: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi Thursday presented a robust Budget of Rs 2.65 lakh crore for the 2024-25 fiscal, 15 percent more than last year's Budget.

This is the first of the newly formed BJP government. Chief Minister Majhi presented the "people's" Budget as he holds the Finance portfolio.

Before preparing the Budget, the Mohan Majhi government had taken suggestions from various stakeholders and common people. As many as 12,000 people were consulted in the last few days to prepare the annual budget.

The earlier BJD government had assessed the Annual Budget at Rs 2.55 lakh crore, 11 percent more than last year's annual Budget.

The Budget focuses on agriculture, industries, health, education and service sectors. The development of farmers, women, youth, and poor has been prioritized.

"People have changed the government and allowed us to serve them. They have a lot of expectations. We will fulfill all their aspirations. Inclusive development is our objective," said Majhi.

He said the Budget has been prepared on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's principles of Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikash, Sabka Biswas, and Sabka Prayas. A Viksit Odisha is our objective, said Majhi.

GSDP is expected to rise at 8%, the Chief Minister said.
