Bhubaneswar, Sept 7: In a bid to aware the people of Odisha about the 'Subhadra Yojana', an awareness drive has been launched in the form of several vehicles -- 'Subhadra Sachetanata Ratha'.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has flagged off the 'Subhadra Sachetanata Ratha' Saturday, on the occasion of holy Ganesh Puja (Ganesh Chaturthi), in the Capital City.

The vehicles will visit various places in the state to aware the people and to tell the people about the state government's flagship scheme -- Subhadra Yojana.

Besides CM Majhi, Deputy CM Pravati Parida as well as few other top officials graced the occasion in the Mahatma Gandhi Marg.

"Today is a holy day (indicating Ganesh Puja) for us. Today, Shubhadra Ratha is being launched across the state," said CM Majhi while addressing the public.

"This scheme -- Subhadra Yojana -- will empower every woman in the state and fulfil their dreams," he said, adding: "This is not just a government scheme, it will be the identity of our 'Asmita'."

CM Majhi also announced that after this state level initiative, it will soon be launched at the district level. "This 'Subhadra Sachetanata Ratha' will visit village to village, block to block to aware the people about the Subhadra Yojana. This scheme will benifit more than one crore women in the state," he asserted.

Notably, Prime Minister will launch the Subhadra Yojana September 17. On this date, the benificiaries will get their first instalment of the flagship scheme.

Deputy CM Pravati Parida, on the other hand, reiterated CM Majhi's statement saying the scheme will benifit more than one crore women in the state. She has also urged the people not to overcrowd in the places where forms are available or are submitted.

"We are fortunate that the words of PM Modi are about to come true," said Dy CM Parida, who also holds the Ministry of Women & Child Development, Mission Shakti, and Tourism.

"The crowd at Mo Seva and Jana Seva centres  as well as few other centres related to SUbhadra Yojana suggest how eager the people are for the scheme. Subhadra Yojana is a revolutionary scheme," she concluded.

In a major initiative for women empowerment in Odisha, the State government announced Subhadra Yojana, which entitles a financial assistance of Rs 10,000 annually to over one crore women in the state for five years till 2028-29 fiscal.

Under this scheme, the beneficiaries will receive Rs 5,000 each in two instalments in a financial year and Rs 50,000 in five years.
