Puri, July 15: The Bahuda Yatra (Return Sojourn) of Puri Deities- Lord Balabhadra, Lord Jagannath, and Devi Subhadra-  will be held today, the ninth day of the ongoing Rath Yatra.

A congregation of lakhs of devotees is expected on the Bada Danda (Grand Road) on this auspicious day. Devotees will pull the Raths- Taladhwaja of Lord Balabhadra, Darpadalan of Devi Subhadra, and Nandighosh of Lord Jagannath, from Sharadhabali to Singhadwar.

A tight security arrangement has been planned for the smooth conduct of the Bahuda Yatra. The deities had come to Shree Gundicha Temple, their birthplace, on their Raths on July 7. After a nine-day stay in Shree Gundicha Temple, they will return today.

According to the information, the Pahandi (Bringing deities from Adap Mandap to Raths in a ceremonious way) of the Deities will begin at noon. The attractive Chherapanhara Niti will be held between 2 pm and 3 pm. Then, Raths will be pulled by security personnel and devotees.

During their return journey, the deities will halt midway at Mausi Maa ghar (Aunt's House) to eat Poda Pitha (A special cake) from the hands of the aunt.

Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, the Police department, and the district administration have made all arrangements for the completion of the Bahuda Yatra in a disciplined way.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has advised Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida and Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan to stay in Puri and oversee the arrangements.

The deities will remain seated on their respective raths after arrival at Singha Dwar in front of the Shree Mandir. The attractive Suna Besha (Gold Adornment) of the deities atop Raths will be held tomorrow. Adharpana Niti will be held the next day and the Niladri Bije (Return to Sanctum Sanctorum) ritual will be held the day after.
