Jajpur, Feb 24: The body of an Odia migrant, who died at his workplace in far away Malaysia, is set to be brought to his village Kalakhanda under Bari Ramchandrapur police station limits in Jajpur district soon, thanks to Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for his efforts in this regard.
According to the information, Jyoti Ranjan Sahoo, son of Jagabandhu Sahoo of Kalakhanda village, had been working in a hotel in Malaysia for the last seven years. He had last came to his house eight months back.
On February 16, a youth of Odisha's Nayagarh informed the family of Jyoti Ranjan about his death. His body was reportedly found hanging from a ceiling fan in his room. Hearing about it, Jyoti Ranjan's paternal uncle complained to the Ramchandrapur PS, alleging his nephew was a pre-planned murder.
Later, family members and villagers posted messages on social media, requesting the district administration, the State government, and the Union Government to bring back the body as they can't do it on their own.
Knowing about it, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan initiated efforts. The body reached Kolkata yesterday and is set to reach his native village today.
"We are indebted to Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. We could not have seen our son's body if he had not made the efforts," said a member of the family in a sobbing voice.
