Bhubaneswar, July 18: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi government did a 'Yogi Adityanath' as bulldozer rolled in Jharsuguda.

Notably, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is on trend due to his 'Bulldozer Act' against mafia in the state.

And, Majhi Govt too joined the 'Bulldozer' party when a meat shop of Mohammed Sonu -- a criminal -- in Bandhabahal. More than 10 shops were operating on encroached lands.

Sonu and his relatives are involved in more than 30 cases, including Sonu's shameful act of allegedly wrapping the severed head of a goat with Indian Tricolour.

The move was a result of CM Majhi's order. Majhi had last week directed collectors of all districts to “free government land from encroachments across the state” while expressing serious concern over rampant unauthorised occupation of government land, which has hampered development works and public welfare programmes.

Reiterating Majhi's words, Odisha revenue and disaster management minister Suresh Pujari had said Wednesday that bulldozers would be used to demolish illegal constructions on government land in the state.

Sonu was operating meat shop, motor garage and ration shop on encroached land in Bandhabahal and all his shops have been bulldozed Thursday.

Additional Tehsildar has said that notice had been issued beforehand to Sonu regarding the matter. However he didn't vacate the land which led to the 'Bulldozer Act'.

The shops were illegally in the name of Sonu and his four brothers. The siblings are involved in multiple crimes. Sonu has 4 registered cases to his name, while Mohammed Kamal, Mohammed Jalil, Mohammed Jamal and Mohammed Shahzad have 19, 3, 4 and 4 registered cases to their names, respectively.

On August 24, 2022, when the entire nation was celebrating 'Har Ghar Tiranga' programme,  Sonu's heinous act came to fore when he put the Indian Tricolour on one of his goat's head.

The siblings were threatening the people demanding extortion money. Recently, Sonu was involved in a shooting incident when he shot a person named Manoj Barik over a money dispute. Police arrested Sonu in this regard and seized a couple of guns and 18 bullets.

According to reports, the 'Bulldozer Act' will continue in the state to free the encroached lands, even from influential people. The administration will soon evict encroachments on govt plots Khadam and Sarandamala mouzas in the district.
