Boudh, Feb 24: A youth was critically injured as he fell into an open drain at Dhalpur under Harbhanga police station limits in Boudh this morning.

A protruding rod pierced into one of his eyes after which he bled profusely. 

The youth has been admitted to the Dhalpur medical in critical condition. 

According to the information, locals rescued the youth and rushed him to the medical soon. He fell on the uncovered drain along the Dhalpur PWD road. 

The incident has irked the locals. 

"We have often urged the authorities to cover the drains so that accidents can be averted. They didn't listen to us. Now, a villager has been a victim of the government's callous attitude," rued co-villagers of the youth. 

They demanded that the drain be covered without delay and that the injured youth be provided free treatment.
