Boat Carrying 17 Passengers Gets Stuck In Chilika Lake

Khordha, July 26: As many as 17 passengers were stranded in the middle of the Chilika lake in Odisha on Friday after a boat carrying them developed a technical snag.

According to sources, the incident occured this morning when the vessel was ferrying passengers from Janhikuda ghat to Satapada.

Apart from passengers, the boat was carrying seven bikes and other articles on board.

Panic gripped the passengers as the vessel got stranded in the middle of the lake. The passengers have requested the authorities to rescue them at the earliest.

Passenger boats operating on the 6-km long stretch between Janhikuda and Satapada frequently get stuck and develop technical snags due to shallow water, sources said.
