Bhubaneswar, Jan 3: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) is planning to increase its revenue collection by cracking down on holding tax and trade licence defaulters in the city.

At a high-level meeting on Tuesday, BMC officials decided to identify major holding tax defaulters and give them time till January 15 to clear dues failing which the BMC will take legal action against them.

BMC has decided to take strict action against those who will throw garbage on the road or in open space.

"Every day BMC's vehicle will go door to door and shop to shop to collect garbage, if any person or shopkeeper will violate the rule, they have to pay a good amount of money", said an official.
