BJP Govt Committed To Upholding Odisha's Glory And Ensuring Development Of Its People

Sambalpur, Feb 3: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the BJP government is committed to upholding Odisha's glory and enhancing the income of Its poor people and the overall development of the State.

The Prime Minister uttered 'Jai Jagannath' and 'Jai Maa Samaleswari' while starting his speech at Remed ground here this afternoon. He was on a one-day visit to Sambalpur today. Earlier, he inaugurated the permanent campus of the IIM Sambalpur. 

Addressing all present as family members, Modi said Modi's guarantee means fulfillment of the guarantee in time. He highlighted various central schemes from which the people of Odisha benefited the most. 
"Odisha is very dear to me. The land where Lord Jagannath and Surya Devta (Sun Gog) reside, can't be poor.

The BJP government is with the people of Odisha. The BJP is committed to upholding Odisha's glory and ensuring Vikstit Odisha," said Modi. 

He said the BJP government's priority is to enhance the income of poor people and make their lives comfortable. 

Making a comparison between the support given to Odisha during the 10 years of the Congress-led UPA Government before 2014 and the support given to the State after 2014 during the BJP government, Modi said the BJP government has provided multiplying support for the welfare and the development of the State. He said Odisha will also get a sizeable share from the Interim Union Budget presented in the Parliament two days back.  
Out of 4 crore houses provided to poor people since 2014, 25 lakh were given to people of Odisha. Those who have not got houses yet under the PMAY schemes will get a pucca house in the coming days. This is Modi's guarantee, he said. 

"Modi guarantees that nobody in the country will stay in thatched house," he said.   

The Prime Minister said schemes have been taken up to provide support to youths, women, farmers, fishermen, tribals, and the poor. 

The Congress government had bought paddy of Rs 36,000 crore during its 10 year tenure, where as the BJP governemnt has provided 1,10,000 crore as MSP against procurment of paddy to farmers, he said. 

He said Rs 20,000 each has already been credited to bank accounts of 40 lakh farmers of Odisha under the PM Kissan scheme. Fishermen have been included in the Kissan Credit Card scheme. Asha Workers and Anganwadi Workers have been included in the Ayushman Yojana as a result of which they will get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh. 

Speaking about his government's deep concern for tribals, the Prime Minister proudly said the BJP has made Droupadi Murmu from the tribal community of Odisha the President of the Country. 

He said the BJP is also committed to upholding and promoting the rich heritage of Odisha. "During the G20 Summit, I had the opportunity to brief world leaders about Konark Chakra.
