BJD MP Debashish Samantaray Resigns As Football Association Of Odisha President

Bhubaneswar: Senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Debashish Samantaray on Tuesday resigned from the post of president of the Football Association of Odisha (FAO).

In a letter to FAO secretary Ashirbad Behera, Samantaray said he resigned from the post of president of the FAO as he is unable to give justice to the post due to his busy schedule and personal engagement.

“Due to my busy schedule and personal engagement, I am unable to give justice to the post of President, F.A.O. Therefore, I resign from the post and I am sure under your leadership the association will work in promoting football in Odisha,” reads his letter.

According to sources, the election for the office bearers of FAO will be held on July 21.

The FAO has conducted three elections since it was formed in 2010. Samantaray had been the president for three terms, sources said.
