Dhenkanal, May 27: In an incident of poll violence, miscreants hurled brick and stone pieces at a BJP worker's house and then attacked him in Mathakargola gram panchayat under the Kamakshyanagar Assembly constituency late on Sunday night.

According to the reports, Brahmananda Swain, a BJP worker, was at his house when about 10 youths, reportedly belonging to the BJD, came and hurled boulders at his house. They then damaged his house gate and the shutter of his shop. As Brahmananda protested, they beat him and fled from the spot.

Meanwhile, BJP supporters alleged that BJD people committed the violence in fear of election loss.

BJP MLA candidate Satrughan Jena visited the village this morning.

Election to the Kamakshyanagar Assembly constituency was held on May 25.
