Bhubaneswar, Aug 27: The opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha on Tuesday expelled Sasmita Majhi, a zilla parishad member of Malkangiri district, for allegedly indulging in "anti-people activities".
According to BJD media coordinator Pratap Jena, party president Naveen Patnaik has expelled Sasmita Majhi, Zilla Parishad Member of Mathili Block (Zone 3), Malkangiri from Biju Janata Dal with immediate effect, for her involvement in anti-people activities.

The expulsion came a day after a man was arrested in the district for allegedly duping job aspirants of huge amount of money by impersonating former BJD leader VK Pandian's brother-in-law.
ZP Member Sasmita was also named as an accused in the FIR lodged at Mathili police station in Malkangiri district.
