Bhubaneswar: RWS&S Junior Engineer Under Vigilance Scanner

Bhubaneswar, Nov 30: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Thursday conducted simultaneous searches associated with Sunil Kumar Padhy, a Junior Engineer (JE) at the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWS&S) in Bhubaneswar, on charges of amassing property disproportionate to his known sources of income.

According to sources, when the Vigilance team knocked on the door of Padhy's residence in the morning at Jagamara in Bhubaneswar, the accused JE went to the terrace of his building, jumped to an adjoining building, and fled the spot. However, he was detained later.

The officials of the anti-corruption agency conducted simultaneous searches at five places including his property in Bhubaneswar and Ganjam district, on the strength of search warrants issued by Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.

As many as 6 DSPs, 3 Inspectors, 7 ASIs and several other staff of the Vigilance department are carrying out the raids at the following five places associated with the accused official.

  1. A triple-storeyed building located over plot no 500/5120, Mallick Complex, Padhy Villa, Jagamara in Bhubaneswar.
  2. A market complex at Aska in Ganjam district.
  3. The paternal house of Padhy at Sunambo Street, Aska in Ganjam.
  4. A house of Padhy’s relative located at Bhanjanagar.
  5. The office chamber of Padhy, in the office of EE, RWS&S, Bhubaneswar.

Searches were in progress till the report was filed, officials said.
