Bhubaneswar, Mar 19: The satellite symposium of Lipid Association of India (LAI) was held at the Hotel Mayfair here last evening.

The function was graced by Dr Raman Puri, founder Chairman of Lipid Association of India, Dr Barton Duell and Nathan Wong from the USA, Dr Rashid Mubarak from Sri Lanka, Dr Madhu Yadav, Dr Charanjit Singh, Dr Satya Routray and Dr Abhay Sahoo.

They participated in a panel discussion on the 'normal blood cholesterol level' required to prevent heart attack, brain stroke, and peripheral vascular diseases.

For Indian patients, we need separate guidelines for the treatment of high cholesterol levels, said panelists.

Different drugs and tests were discussed to stratify the risk and manage it efficiently. Around 200 doctors, including cardiologists, endocrinologists, and physicians, from across the state joined the meeting.

Prof Jayant Panda from the SCB Medical College moderated the sessions and organised the Satellite Symposium for LAI.
