Bhubaneswar, Oct 2: In a disturbing incident, a woman was gang-raped by two perpetrators in front of her child in the Capital City. A team of Special Squad Police have arrested the perpetrators and one accused in the case.
The incident, which reportedly took place in an apartment in Maitri Vihar Sunday night, came to light after the victim registered a complaint in this connection.
The woman was living with her two-year-old child in the apartment.
The perpetrators, reportedly youth, entered the apartment through the balcony door late at night in a theft-attempt.
However, the perpetrators showed their inhuman side when they put a knife on the child's neck and sexually assaulted the woman.
After committing the heinous act, the duo fled from the scene with the victim's mobile, jewellery and few other valuables. They also locked the door from outside to stop the victim get any immediate help.
The next morning, a friend of the victim opened the door. After informing her friend about the incident, the woman registered a complaint at Maitri Vihar Police Station.
Based on the complaint, police and a scientific team arrived at the apartment and began the investigation recording the victim's statement in the process.
With the help of Special Squad, the police formed a two teams and began their hunt for the perpetrators.
After conducting raids on various places, the police team finally arrested the main accused duo tracking down the victim's mobile.
The accused have been identified as Bikash Nayak, Jaga Singh and Tukuna Nayak. Bikash and Jaga, who are involved in multiple cases, are from the Ishaneswar slum area.
Police have recovered four mobile phones, a knife and a scooty from the accused.
If necessary, police will conduct a Test Identification Parade (TIP) of the accused, said the Maitri Vihar Police.
