Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das inaugurated the drive planting a tree in the BMC courtyard.
Trees will be planted in various empty places, on the roadside as well as in the cremation ground. Currently, trees are being distributed by the Forest Department.
BMC will distribute more than a thousand trees to people. The city Mayor has said that plans are being made to create a dense forest in coming days.
"We have to be aware keeping the climate change in mind," said the Mayor, adding: "If you tell us where we can plant trees, we will plant trees in those places as well."
