Bargarh Dhanu Jatra Kansa Artiste Gopal Sahu Passes Away

Bargarh, Aug 13: Eminent theatre artiste Gopal Sahu, popular for his Kansa character in the world-famous Bargarh Dhanu Yatra, passed away this morning. He was 70.

Sahu acted in Kamsa role for about 25 years. His king-style laughing, and direction to local authorities for civic development is well-remembered by Jatra and theatre lovers. Every year, Dhanu Jatra is organized on an open stage, believed to be the largest in the world. 

According to the information, Sahu was diabetic and undergoing treatment. He was hospitalized a few days ago. 

People from different walks of life visited his house at Barapali to pay last respects to the departed soul.
