Puri, Oct 15: The usual Banakalagi Niti ritual of Srimandir deities- Lord Balabhadra, Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra and Chakraraj Sudarshan- will be conducted today, for which their darshan will be suspended for four hours from 5 PM to 9 PM.
According to the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), the ritual will be performed after the second 'Bhoga Mandap'. During this period, no visitors will be allowed the darshan of the Trinity.
As per traditions, Datta Mohapatra Servitors will make up Lord Balabhadra, Lord Jagannath, Goddess Subhadra, and Chakraraj Sudarshan with natural herbal colours like green, red, saffron, black, and white in the Banakalagi Niti, which is also known as "Mukha Sringar" (Face Make-Up).
After completion of the ritual, the Holy Trinity will be given a ceremonial bath, also known as 'Maha Snana'. After that, devotees will be allowed Darshan of the Trinity seated on the Ratnasinghasan.
