Balasore: Odisha Vigilance Arrests Rural Works Chief Engineer In DA Case

Balasore, Sept 21: NV Harihara Rao, chief construction engineer, rural works circle, Balasore, has been placed under arrest by Odisha Vigilance, Saturday.

Rao has been arrested in disproportionate assets (DA) case following a raid on his house, office and his other properties, Friday.

Sharing the details of the seaches, Odisha Vigilance, in a release, said, "Based on searches conducted on properties of NV Harihara Rao, he was found in possession of disproportionate assets including cash Rs 46.45 Lakhs unearthed from his brother-in-law's house at Berhampur, 2  Buildings, one 3-BHK Flat, 2 suspected benami flats in Bhubaneswar and Berhampur, 5 high value homestead plots, deposits/investments Rs.3.42 Crores, 510 gms of gold, etc, which he could not explain satisfactorily."

The release further stated that he will be forwarded to court. In this (the DA Case) connection, Vigilance Cell PS Case No. 11 /2024 has been registered against NV Harihara Rao.

More details are awaited as further investigation is underway.

Notably, the Odisha Vigilance sleuths Friday conducted simultaneous searches associated NV Harihara Rao on charges of amassing property disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Raids were cunducted at NV Harihar Rao's office and official residence in Kukudapada, Balasore.
