Ayushman Bharat In Odisha Soon; New Cards By This FY-End

Bhubaneswar, Oct 28: Odisha will prepare modalities soon to implement Ayushman Bharat editions 1 and 2 in the State, said Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling. 

The Health and Family Welfare Minister's assertion assumes significance as only a day is left for the Ayushman Bharat Part 2 launch. 

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch part 2 of the Ayushman Bharat scheme tomorrow. Odisha will execute part 2 during the current financial year," said Mahaling. 

Mahaling said modalities would be prepared to implement both the part 1 and 2 versions of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. Health cards would be issued to the beneficiaries by the end of the current financial year, he said. 

The Minister said a single card will be issued to beneficiaries to avail of free-of-cost treatment of both the Gopabandhu Swasthya Yojana and Ayushman Bharat Yojana. New cards will be issued to about 1 crore beneficiaries, he said.

The Minister expressed happiness saying that the new cardholders can get free treatment in as many as 27,000 hospitals across the country, while only 950 hospitals were linked to provide old cardholders treatment.  

According to sources, part 2 of the Ayushman Bharat will ensure free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh to citizens aged above 70 years.
