Awareness Rath For Child Labour Prohibition Flagged Off In Mayurbhanj

Baripada, June 18: In view of Odisha government's approach to release child labourers, Mayurbhanj district administration inaugurated an awareness Rath at the District Collector's office here Tuesday.

Additional Collector Daulat Chandrakar flagged off the Rath in the presence of some other officers of the district administration.

Under the guidence of the Department of Labour Employment and Employees' Insurance Scheme, an awareness drive will be conducted throughout the district to make everyone aware of the various aspects of the implementation of the Child Labour Prohibition Act. 

According to the said law, if any employer employs a child under 14 years of age to work in his/her institution, there is a provision of fine. There is also a provision of penalty if an employer puts any teenager between 14 to 18 years of age in hazardous work.

The main objective of the drive is to focus on how child labourers can be included in the mainstream of society. In case of disobedience, actions will be taken against the concerned people, warned the district administration.
