Bhubaneswar, Oct 25: At a time when devastation caused by severe cyclone 'Dana' has worried all, an ASHA Worker has garnered all praise for her keenness to serve people in an affected village in Kendrapara district.
As an ASHA Worker, Shibani Mandal's duty was to persuade people in low-lying and vulnerable areas to shift to safer places like cyclone shelters. Her duty was not to carry elderly people on her shoulders to cyclone shelters.
But, she did it to save precious lives. She shifted about seven elderly persons on her shoulders, setting an example of selfless service for others.
A video of Shibani, the ASHA Worker of Khasamunda village under Rajnagar block, carrying an elderly woman has gone viral on social media. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi talked to Shibani and thanked her for her service. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida and Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling praised her.
According to the information, Shibani didn't stop with the shifting of villagers. She also took the shifted people back home after the impact of Cyclone Dana weakened.
