Bhubaneswar, Nov 3: As many as eight new railway projects worth Rs 19,289 crore have been approved for Odisha during the Modi 3.0 government, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Tuesday.
In a post on X, Vaishnaw expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for sanctioning Rs.73,723 crores for the development of railway sector in Odisha. “Odisha's economic interests will be maintained,” he said.

Stating that three railway zones would continue to operate as usual under the East Coast Railway (ECoR), Vaishnaw said the Union Cabinet has approved the proposal to establish the Rayagada Railway Division. A tender of Rs 107 crore has been invited for the construction of the Railway Division office in Rayagada, he added.
The Railway Minister also said that a total of 59 stations in Odisha are being redeveloped under the Amrit Station Scheme.
Vaishnaw further stated that the Union Cabinet has approved following 8 new railway projects at a cost of Rs 19,289 crore during the Modi 3.0 government:
1.Gunupur-Therubali New Railway Line
2. Junagarh Road-Nabarangpur New Railway Line
3. Malkangiri-Pandurangapuram via Bhadrachalam new railway line
4. Badampahar-Kendujhargarh new railway line
5. Bangiriposhi-Gorumahisani New Railway Line
6. Budamara-Chakulia new railway line
7. Sardega-Bhalumuda new dual carriageway railway line
8. Bargarh Road-Nuapada Road New Railway Line
Vaishnaw also said that he held a detailed discussion with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and other MPs from Odisha in this regard.
