Bhubaneswar, Mar 29: As many as 74 Police personnel have been engaged for the security of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader VK Pandian, according to information received under a right to information or RTI application.
The Commissionerate Police, in its response to an RTI query by activist Prakash Chandra Das, informed that as many as two armed Sub-Inspector (SI) of Police, 12 Havildars, 60 constables, including 4 women constables have been engaged for the security of former IAS officer and 5T & Nabin Odisha Chairman, VK Pandian.
More than 3 crore rupees are being spent annually for Pandian's security, it said.
"Pandian thinks he is an emperor, so his arrogance has increased so much that he is doing whatever he wants in the State, wasting crores of rupees from the state exchequer and hard-earned money of the taxpayers by taking such police protection," alleged another RTI activist.

Meanwhile RTI activist Prakash Chandra Das urged the State government to withdraw such a large number of police personnel engaged for the protection of Pandian.
