5 Dead, 40 Injured As Bus Falls Off Flyover In Odisha's Jajpur

Jajpur, Apr 15:  At least five people were killed and 40 others were injured after a private bus travelling from Bhubaneswar to Kolkata fell off a flyover on NH-16 near Barabati Chhak in Odisha's Jajpur district on Monday.

According to sources, the incident took place around 9 pm on Barabati bridge on NH-16.

Around 60 passengers were on board. Two passengers died on the spot while two others succumbed at the government hospital here, sources said. 

The injured were rushed to the Community Health Centre, Dharmasala. The critically injured patients were shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack. 

The police started an investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed grief over the incident and announced ex gratia of Rs 3L each for the kin of the deceased.
