3 Killed, 14 Injured As Bus Carrying Pilgrims Hits Truck In Odisha's Mayurbhanj

Baripada, Jul 13: At least three people were killed and 14 injured after a bus in which they were travelling in hit a truck from behind in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Saturday.

As per reports, the accident took place at around 5.30 Am on National Highway 18 near Budikhmari Square under the Betanati Police Station limits in the district, when the bus with around 20 pilgrims on board rammed into the truck.

The bus was reportedly going towards Gaya from Hyderabad when the accident occurred.

After getting information, local Police and Fire service personnel reached the spot and rescued the victims.

The injured passengers were taken to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital, Baripada.

One of the deceased has been identified as bus driver Uday Singh of Charminar area of Hyderabad.

The driver reportedly died on the spot while two others succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment.

The truck driver escaped from the spot after the accident, sources said.

Betanati Police started an investigation into the matter.
