Bhubaneswar, Feb 17: Srikant Tarai, President, Board of Secondary Education, has assured that all preparations for the upcoming matriculation examinations have been completed.
“Question papers have already reached all nodal centres,” informed Tarai. The board exams will commence on February 19.
On the first day, students will appear for the Mother Tongue
examination.

Srikant Tarai also explained the timelines of the examination schedule. “Gates of the exam centres will open at 8:15 am. OMR sheets will be distributed at 8:45 am, and the question papers will be handed over at 9:00 am,” stated the BSE chief, who appealed the students to reach their assigned exam centres by 8:30 am to avoid last-minute rush.
In a significant change, the Board has revised the entry rules for candidates this year. According to the previous rules, students were allowed enter the exam hall until 9:15 am.

✨“We have changed this rule keeping student convenience in mind. The entry window has been extended by 15 minutes and the candidates will now be allowed to enter up to 9:30 am,” revealed Srikant Tarai.
According to the BSE President, the decision has been taken to reduce stress among students and ensure fairness. “If any student faces any unavoidable delays, they will still be permitted to enter the exam hall within the extended time frame,” clarified Tarai.
The Board has urged the students to strictly follow instructions and maintain discipline during the examination process.
CBSE Board Exams Begin
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board examinations 2026 have begun Tuesday. The Class 12 board examinations have been scheduled from February 17 to April 9, in a single shift from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. The Class 10 board examinations have also been commenced Tuesday and it will conclude on March 11.
This year, a total of 25,08,319 students will appear for the
Class 10 board examinations, while 18,59,551 students are set to take the Class
12 exams.
